Day 3 in Rome: The Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel
Wednesday, Sept 1
This morning, we had guided tours of the Vatican Museums and Michelangelo’s Sistine chapel. The paintings and sculptures were so amazing! I’ve never seen anything like it! It is so mind blowing how intricate and precise every little detail is. The stories of the paintings are so interesting and made me wonder where they came up with this stuff! Poor Michelangelo, who spent 4 years looking up at the ceiling, painting by candlelight and ending up going blind from it! What a life! Pictures do no justice to everything I saw. So incredible! Tonight we took a taxi to see the Trevi fountain lit up at night, which was beautiful! Then stopped at a pizzeria on our walk back and ordered 2 pizzas and French fries. They were the best fries I’ve ever had! I guess everything is better in Italy!
