Amalfi Coast: Day 2

Positano
A perfect view of my new favorite place in the
whole wide world!  :)
This morning we were able to sleep in, which felt amazing after our exhausting day in Capri yesterday. We got ready and grabbed a little bite to eat in the dinning room before boarding the bus to Positano. We were greeted on the bus by our new bus driver for the day who has a special license for driving on the crazy, winding, cliffside roads. I didn’t realize how treacherous it was until we were actually on them! You have to honk going around every corner because you are completely blind to what is coming at you. They are basically one way roads so its not like you can really pass. There were crazy motorcycle drivers swerving around us the whole way up. Mom you would have had an absolute heart attack watching these “hooligans”!
Our first jump off the boat! The water was so warm!
After our scary ride to Positano, we had finally made it to the beach! Well, not without a little walking first. We walked from the top of the city down to the bottom on another long staircase that went through little alleyways and past people going about their every day life in this beautiful town. We got to the bottom and decided to rent a boat for a couple of hours. Five minutes later, twenty of us piled on to a boat with our driver “Gino” and we headed out to sea. Our first stop was cliff jumping. Gino parked the boat near a beach with cliff access and we all jumped out into the beautiful blue water and swam to shore. We had to scale the side of the cliff to get up to where we jumped from which I must say was quite scary. It felt like I was almost flying for a second when I jumped off the cliff. What an amazing feeling!  Some of the more risky people in our group climbed way way up and found the guts to jump from there. It had to have been 5 stories up. Those Crazies! We cliff jumped and hung out in the ocean for about 30 minutes before Gino decided it was time to continue.
Our boat driver, Gino!
The beach we parked at to cliff jump. You can
kind of see people standing on the cliff in the
bottom right corner. It was so beautiful!

We drove around for awhile (he even let me drive for a bit!) and then parked near a little cave hidden in the side on a cliff. We thought we were just looking at the cave but Gino told us all we had to jump in! Those swimming lessons really did pay off! We swam into this little cave which was pretty similar to the Blue Grotto we had gone to yesterday in Capri. It was so cool to be in the amazing blue water and hear our voices echo in our own little swimming cave.

Happy girl on the boat!  :)
After the cave, we drove around, jumped in laid on the boat, jumped in, danced with Gino a little bit and then headed back to Positano to have a little beach time. We found a yummy Panino Risorante that made  DELICIOUS sandwiches as big as my head! We all piled in to get our sandwiches and took them down to the rock beach for a little lunch. What a perfect moment eating my favorite Italian food and watching the waves roll in and out with all my friends!

The view of the cliffside from the beach. The clouds
were a little eerie  in this picture for some reason!
I went swimming for a long while to cool off (Can you believe that its October 2nd and in the high 80’s here?!) and then went on a search for sea glass. I found so many pieces of beautiful blue and green sea glass and am excited to make some sort of a mosaic out of it once I am home.

A pretty shot from my spot on the beach! I loved
the blue and white fence with the blue
and white sky!
Our guides somehow managed to drag us off the beach at around 5:00 and we headed back to our hotel for dinner. Tonight we had Calamari, yummy pesto noodles, salad, and fruit. I still find it so strange that they have salad after the main course here, where as we always have salad first in the U.S. After dinner, a bunch of us hung out in our room and chit chatted until we decided to call it a night.

Today was my best day in Italy by far. 5 words to best describe my incredible day: Beautiful, Scenic, Relaxing, Salty, and Exhilarating.

The lemons were as big as my hand! Positano and
Capri are very famous for their lemons so both places smelled spectacular!
Pretty waves, pretty water, pretty cliffside,
pretty clouds, pretty sky... Ahhhh!
