The country side between Rome and Florence! |
Grabbing our suitcases our of the van before heading to our apartments. I can't believe we're actually here! |
Our bags are packed and we’re headed to Florence! We left Rome at 10, had a quick lunch at an Italian rest stop (which had an amazing deli and hot buffet with pasta. Nothing like pit stops in America!) We arrived in Firenze at 3:00 and had to unload our luggage and roll it to our apartments about 6 blocks. Although this may not sound bad, lets factor in the fact that each of us had at least 3 big suitcases, a purse, wheeling them down a narrow sidewalk, with cars speeding past in upper 80 degree weather! Then carry our bags up 3 long flights of stairs! Seriously?! But our apartment is Amazing! There are 3 triple bedrooms each with a bathroom and a large kitchen and living space for us all to share. And yes, if you did the math right, I am living with 7 other girls-uff da! The two girls I am in a room with are the nicest girls! Katie, who I roomed with at the hotel in Rome, is a junior at Santa Barbara and looks like Liindsey Lohan. Taylor is the sweetest girl you will ever meet, and is a Junior at University Colorado boulder. She does triathlons! They’re both very fit which will hopefully keep me motivated! Tonight we walked around a bit, went to dinner, bought wine (for 2 Euro a bottle!) and watched a street performer near the Duomo. He was one of the funniest entertainers ever. Then we celebrated our first day in Firenze with a little gelato! YUM!
Me with both my roommies on the Ponte Vecchio! left to right (Katie (from California), Me, and Taylor (from Colorado) What a beautiful night sky! |
