The Duomo, and Florence from the top of the hill |
The bride getting out of the car for her wedding! She was gorgeous! |
This morning we walked up to Piazza Michelangelo and San Miniato for an amazing view of the city from the hill. It was quite a hike all the way up those steps, but what we saw was so worth it! At the top of the hill, there is a hige church. While we were taking pictures, a car pulls up and out climbs a beautiful bride, greeted by her father. We were stunned! We were able to go in the church and watch a real Italian wedding. Our program organizers said celebrities get married in the gardens on the hill so they couldn’t imagine how much it would cost to get married in the church. Only royalty gets married in the church. Basically, we saw a real royal Italian wedding! Ahhh! So AMAZING! After this, we wanted to go to IKEA so we went to the train station to get on the bus, bought a ticket, and waited for the bus… for over an hour! Then we decided to look on the schedule (which had been right next to us the entire time), and realized this us didn’t run on Saturdays! Duh! We had a walking tour of the city which was very helpful in pointing out the history, best pizzerias, good/bad parts of town, and many tips for life in Florence. After the tour, ISA had a pizza party for us at a great little pizzeria. Then we headed to our friends house and went out for the night!
The beautiful night sky from the Ponte Vecchio! |
