Day 2 in Rome: The Coliseum

Tuesday, August 31st
My friend Katie and me in front of the Colosseum
This morning, we had our first breakfast at the hotel and had a three-hour walking tour of the colosseum and Roman Forums Piazza Venezia, Altare della Patria, and the Pantheon. After the tour, we split off, grabbed a quick Prosciutto sandwich (similar to ham) at a deli and saw some more sights. We saw the Trevi fountain, and Spanish steps. We also saw the church of bones, which was very unusual.
In front of the Trevi Fountain! So beautiful!
After all that walking, we went back to the hotel to rest before a walk to the Trastevere area, which is across the river from our hotel. We ate dinner at a cute restaurant in a closed in garden area. The waiter (who’s name was Alfredo!) was in love with our friend Kristen which made dinner quite the experience. After dinner, we walked down by the river where they open up little tents with food, trinkets, and music. All the families came out after dark which made for a fun atmosphere. After the river, we went to an Irish Pub for some beer and dancing to lots of 90’s music. We met an Austrailan couple which was so cool! Their accents were great!

This is beside the river where we walked.
You can see the little white tents lining the river which is
where they had food and music.
It was such a cool atmosphere!
